What is your ancient civilization?

I saw this quiz and it seemed fun so I took it.
What is your ancient civilization?
People may think of you as being mystical, but you can also kick butt. Your civilization is the Celts; perhaps it is that you prefer roving chiefdoms over a rigid empire, or maybe

Village Halloween

Filed under: General — John @ 9:10 pm

Tonight’s village board meeting, as expected, set the time for Halloween Trick -or- Treating. What I didn’t expect was for them to ask me if the hours they chose were ok with me. :-) I guess I have a bit of a reputation :-) [whistles innocently]

License fun

Village Board Meeting Time

Filed under: General — John @ 4:33 pm

Well tonight is the October village board meeting. I definitly need to go to this one to make sure the new board doesn’t try to move Trick-or-Treating on me. It will also be interesting to see how many peopel changed thier minds reagarding the bypass. It seems that a number of the business association, once they found out the truth, are now in support of the bypass. It always amazes me how peopels opinions change when they actually base thier opinions of something off of facts they have gathered themselves instead of information passed to them by a 3rd party. I love bias…

Now Presenting… Uh… What wast it again?

Filed under: General — John @ 8:38 am

Well, today I have a presentation with the dean of my department to a bunch of faculty and staff. It’s bene a long time since the two of us have done any presentations together. I’m hoping though things will go off well. Especially considering that we havent prepaired much at all. It is going to be a fly by the seat of your pants free for all. We will be talking about all of the new technology I have helped to create in our library. I’m hoping that my intimate famillarity with the services, as well as my recent activities around various faires will help keep my confidence level up so I don’t stand there stuttering. The only problem with that, is that I might forget my environment and get a little to crazy for an educational institution. :-) So I guess today will be an excercise in restraint. Hmm I wonder are there other notices on the dial besides ‘low key’ and ‘anything goes’ . Only time will tell. MUAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH!!! Boy lets hope I don’t overly irritate any administrators…

In Camelot…

Filed under: Renaissance — John @ 1:01 pm

Do to some banking issues I was unable to make my planned trip to OH. This turned out not to be a depressing thing at all though because I used the weekend to finally attend the “Return to Camelot” faire in Beaver Dam, WI. Seelie Court was performing so there was of course good music. There was a good mix of vendors, and living history. All in all the weekend was an absolute blast. I really hope this faire continues with this same energy, and talent because it’s got great potential.

This weekends highlights:

  • Seelie Court
  • OMG, worlds best Italian Food!
  • A fun new faire
  • Juli & Kathleene
  • Follow the bouncing bench
  • 2nd night of worlds best Italian food
  • “I’ll let Juli know when she gets here”
  • Not having to drive >400 miles by myself
  • Audience herding ™
  • REAL Jousting!!!
  • RING WORM!
  • Mmmmmmmm Applesauce
