Music on impulse
I have to admit that iTunes has really made a difference in my music purchasing habits. It used to be that I would never buy an album unless I really liked at least 2 or 3 songs on the disc. Now with iTunes I don’t have that restriction. If there is a song I hear and like I find myself looking for it on iTunes and more often than not if it has been recorded by more than one artist I end up buying the different versions of it. It has really made my collection more eclectic, but I think thats a good thing honestly.
Tonight I was watching CNN, and they were doing yet another story on the flood victems and in the background a tune caught my attention. One that I have heard a few times before but never looked up. Well a quick google search revealed it was “Send Me on My Way” by a band called “Rusted Root“. Another quick search in iTunes told me that they have 8 different versions of it. I picked the one off their album “Cruel Sun” and a few seconds later the download was complete and off I went.

Silly People :-)
Today on my way to work I was sitting at a stop sign waiting for a break in traffic so I could make my turn. As I was waiting a semi went past with one of those long flat bed trailers used to carry construction equipment. Normally I wouldn’t even think twice about it and it certainly wouldn’t be worth mentioning here. However as it was passing I noticed the trailer was indeed hauling construction equipment. Centered on this trailer and strapped down as if it was the real thing, was one of the large Tonka dump trucks. I about died laughing.
Mr. Trucker guy with the great sense of humor, THANK YOU! You definitly made my morning brighter.

Bump on a log
Today I have managed to accomplish absolutely nothing productive. Well unless you count making cinnamon rolls from a can, heating a frozen pizza, and watching CNN all day productive. Having watched CNN all day I can nearly recite the featured news stories they are playing today becasue I have seen them all 9 times. Why havn’t you changed the channel you could ask? Well I have changed it, but there is absolutly nothing on. Ok well absolutly nothing isn’t exactly true… There are some things on, in fact LOTR is on WGN but my feelings about that is, why watch it when I have it on DVD commercial free. Although at the moment the receiver / switcher for the stereo is damaged and drops the picture after a while. So I can’t just toss in the DVD and watch it.
In some sense it was nice not doing anything today, but still I feel guilty that I’ve basically wasted the entire day. I have numerous projects I need to be working on around the house, and yet I chose to waste the day. <SIGH>

Meow!
I received an e-mail tonight from Marc Gunn. It seems the “Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers” CD is done.
He will be getting it in about two weeks and so it will be about three for me. But theres no need to wait that long for me to hear it
Thanks to the wonders of technology I’m listening to it right now and and enjoying every minute of it. I’ve listened to 9 of the 15 tracks and so far my favorite is “A Cat Named Rover”. I’ll post more once I listen to the whole CD, but now it’s bed time.

Canal Street
Well, it looks like I will not be attending any non faire Minstrels of Mayhem concerts this year. Ty just informed me that the Canal street show date has finally been set. Problem is it’s Oct 9th. I won’t be able to attend that show, as the weekends I’m going to OH are Oct 1st, and Oct 15th. The 9th I will be in Rock Island for that new faire. Oh well, perhaps someone will call me during the show so I can hear something. HINT HINT!!! (Pssssst… My favorite non faire MOM song that doesn’t make me ball like a baby is “Heart of Gold / Wonderwall”, barring that one “There is a World”, or “Barrett’s Privateers” are awesome too. )
Edit: 9:59pm - I’m now getting word back from MoMHeads that they called Canal Street and Canal Street says the guys are playing Oct 2nd. I have emailed Jerry and Carol both now to see what they say.
iTunes Blogger / .Net Fun
Today I tried running the iTunesBlogger program on my normal computer and found that every time I launched it it woudl crash with a “Unhandled exception” error. Once I finally got the JIT debugger included with the .NET SDK installed I was able to discover the error message that was unhandled had to do with an improperly registerd control using the ID of “DC0C2640-1415-4644-875C-6F4D769839BA”. After doing some searching on google I discovered that that is the GUID for iTunes itself. I tried using regsvr32 to re-register all of the dll’s but had no luck in correcting the error. I finally resigned to re-installing iTunes. Once I did that everything seems to be working properly now. I should have guessed it would have been something as easy to fix as re-installing iTunes but at least now I confirmed it using diagnostic tools.

Back
I’m home from Irish Fest. I had a good time, it was worth the trip. Definitly helped to alivieate the blahs! Aside from Juli; Carl, Bobbbb, and Dave were there from faire. Juli’s Husband, and her “other husband” and a number of the “loosers” (their name for the band of friends) filter in as the night progressed. I left after “Brigid’s Cross” finished thier set. They have some great tunes, and covered “The Night Pat Murphy Died” expertly!
Irish Decendants
I just discovered that the Irish Decendants are playing in Downers Grove last night and tonight. Rats I missed it.
On the road again
I had thought I would spend the day in bed in post faire shock. But here I am driving to an Irish fest in Dundee.
Test
This is just a test… I have migrated to a new version of wordpress. I hope things all work correctly. I figure I have a few things to work out.
